Sprouts, i cant give up this protein packed stuffs never ever in my life. I started sprouting beans and wholegrains at home just few years back when i wasnt able to get them here. Sprouting is just a child play, anyone can make sprouts at home easily. Some makes their sprouts by using kitchen gadgets or simply with a muslin cloth or else with hot pack vessels. Using hotpack vessels for making sprouts is definitely one of the easiest way of making sprouts at home. Soak the beans you want to sprout a day before, next day, drain the water and drop the soaked beans in hotpack, close it and keep it in room temperature for a day, trust me the next day you can see the sprouts already. Use those sprouts in your cooking, this is how am making my sprouts and this method sounds easy na. Cooked sprouted chickpeas is very much needed for this kola urundais, with a coconut based spice mixture this kola urundais gets ready in a jiffy. Actually kola urundais are fried but here i used the famous paniyaram pan aka appe pan for making this spicy sprouted chickpeas balls which goes for less oil when compared to the deep fried ones. Obviously one more healthy snacks to feed anyone at home, kids will go crazy when you serve this kola urundais with a ketchup. 2cups Sprouted cooked chickpeas
2tbsp Roasted gram flour/pottukadalai maavu
Salt
Chopped coriander leaves
Oil for cooking
To roast and grind:
1tsp Poppyseeds
1tsp Fennelseeds
1/4tsp Turmeric powder
3nos Dry red chillies
3tbsp Grated coconut
Few curry leaves
Heat a pan and roast all the ingredients given under the list to 'roast and grind' one by one except turmeric powder.
Grind everything with turmeric powder as bit coarse paste without adding water.
Meanwhile mash the cooked chickpeas nicely or else give a quick grind in a mixie.
Now take the mashed chickpeas, grounded paste, roasted gram flour,with salt and chopped coriander leaves in a bowl.
Mix everything well and make medium sized balls out of it.
Heat the paniyaram pan, drop oil in it, once its hot, drop the balls.
Cook well until they gets crispy outer.
Remove it and enjoy with sauces or chutneys

Interesting. .never heard of these. I make sprouts in a rough jute..what you csll bori in hindi..but will try this version too.

ReplyDeleteInteresting balls with sprouts. And it is not deep fried! I use to make sprouts at home and use to sprout very nicely. These days I am having trouble with it. Will try the hot pack method next time.
