Am trying to inculde tofu quite often in our meal, kids love it as much as like paneer. Actually tofu is replacing very much paneer in my cooking. One of my recent trial with tofu is this simple and very easy fried fingers. Yes you can make some fantastic starter with extra firm tofu. Simply flavoured with any sort of spices, tofu can be cooked as many delicious dishes. However we are great fan of this fried tofu fingers. Since tofu doesnt have any flavor, if you are making this ultimate Vegan and gluten free tofu fingers dont ever hesitate a second to flavor them with your favourite spices. Actually i went with simple garam masala flavoured tofu fingers as we love masala flavor in tofu.
Kids enjoyed thoroughly this tofu fingers with their favourite tomato ketchup. Just served hot, trust me one can finish a plate full of this vegan fingers quickly than you can imagine. Am running this week's blogging marathon with Kid's delight - Bite sized appetiziers as theme. Obviously am posting this simple, yet a quick crowd pleaser to go under this theme. Since this tofu fingers are deep fried, trust me even a picky eater will definitely devour this fried beauties if they are flavored with their favourite spices.
250grams Extrafirm tofu
1/2tsp Garam masala powder
1/4tsp Pepper powder
Salt
Oil for frying
Drain the water from the tofu and pat dry them well with paper towels.
Slice them as mini fingers and add the garam masala powder, pepper powder and salt to them.
Toss them well until they gets well coated with the spices, let them sit for half an hour in fridge.
Heat oil for deep frying, once the oil is hot, drop the fingers in small batches and fry them until they turns crispy.
Serve immediately with your favourite sauce.
Dont fry them if you are not serving immediately.
If you want to be more crispy add some flour while tossing them with spices.
