Since am busy with my work, its really a hard task for me to prepare idly batter for every week. Hence i stick with easy adai batter or else with instant dosa batter to whip up some dosa quickly for our dinner. Since the last weekend was a long weeked for me, i gathered all the ingredients to grind some dosa batter for a week. Obviously i couldnt stop myself to grind some red rice-mixed dals batter to make some dumplings.This dumpling batter goes for an easy preparation and no fermentation is needed. Just leave the batter in room temperature for an hour and make your dumplings with your paniyaram pan. You can have them either for snacks, breakfast or else for dinner if you dont feel like making your dinner.
To make this paniyaram more interesting, i have added some grated vegetables. Needless to say that this dish more nutritious and healthy. Anyone can have this dumplings with a spicy chutney, definitely its a wholesome meal. Though am trying to reduce rice in our daily menu, red rice is always my favourite which i never forget to buy whenever i go to my nearby chinese store. They are seriously very versatile, i have already prepared couple of dishes with this incredible rice, you can dish out varieties of sweets and desserts with this rice as well. 1cup Red rice/Sivappu Arisi
1/2cup Channadal
1/2cup Toor dal
1/2cup Yellow moongdal
1/2cup Urad dal
1/2cup Grated mixed vegetables
4nos Dry red chillies
1tsp Fennel seeds
3nos Garlic cloves
Salt
Soak the redrice along with all dals for atleast 3 hours.
Grind the soaked red rice and dal with dry red chillies, fennel seeds, garlic cloves with enough water and salt as bit coarse paste.
Keep aside the batter for an hour or two hours in room temperature.
Add the grated vegetables to the grounded batter.
Heat the kuzhi paniyaram pan in medium heat, pour few drops of oil, pour a tablespoon of the batter.
Put the flame in simmer,cook slowly, turn on both sides until they get well cooked.
Dont cook them in high flame.
Serve hot with spicy coconut chutney or onion chutney..

Your Dal vada look so perfectly brown. Fennel seeds must give it a unique flavor. Love it
