Any instant versions of dosas or idlies goes directly to my favourite list, whenever i saw or hear about an interesting instant version of idlies or dosas immediately i'll try at home. Obviously i have tried numerous versions of this instant breakfast or dinner dishes at home. Instant versions are seriously very quick to prepare, definitely hassle free and very handy when you dont have idly batter at home. You might have tried many versions of wheat dosas but my today's post is very different from those versions.Actually i grabbed this recipe from a paper cut of an old Tamil magazine at my mom's place while we were cleaning her pantry. I got hooked to this version of dosas as its includes both whole wheat, oats as these both are my favourite ingredients. My pantry will always have these both ingredients without any fail. The most interesting part is this dosa is this recipe goes for rava aka semolina, obviously i was very much interested to give a try to this version.
Eventhough the quantity of semolina is very much lesser than the wheat flour and oats, the addition of semolina makes this dosa mildly crispy than the usual wheat dosas we make at home. The original recipe went for green chillies and tempering spices, but i skipped them and went for a simple dosa. You can spice this dosa with chopped green chillies, coriander leaves and tempered spices its all upto your choice. However we liked having this instant dosas without any spices, served with a spicy chutney this dosas makes a satisfying breakfast or dinner definitely.I served mine with this spicy Garlic coconut chutney. This post goes for the CC Challenge of the month.
1cup Wheat flour
1/2cup Rolled oats (grounded as coarse powder)
1/4cup Semolina/Roasted rava
Salt
1cup Buttermilk
Water as per need
Oil for cooking
In a large bowl, take the wheat flour, coarse oats powder, semolina, salt.
Add the buttermilk and enough water to make a dosa batter.
Keep aside for half an hour.
Heat a pan or a griddle, grease it with few drops of oil.
Pour a ladle of this dosa batter and spread it as a thin dosa, drizzle oil and cook on both sides.
Serve this healthy dosas with spicy chutneys.
