After three months break, am kick starting the usual three days of blogging marathon with a fantastic theme, my theme for this week's blogging marathon is Apple Desserts. Apple is the fruit we get almost every season of the year. From red apples to golden apples, apples are my favourite fruits, but unfortunately i cant eat them as am allergic to this ultimate fruit. Obviously i bake many delightful baked goodies or desserts with this incredible fruit to please my tastebuds. Since i picked Apple desserts as theme for this week's blogging marathon, i baked three fantastic baked dishes with apples. To kick start this first day, am posting a rustic style galette with nutella and sliced apples, topped with almond flakes.
Galette is a French word which means flat round or free form crusty cakes.Though many varieties of Galettes do exists, the most famous French Galette is their King cake which is also known as Galette de rois. But my today's post is a simple but yet a delicious apple dessert which is quite easy to bake at home easily with a simple pie crust. Apart from making your crust, this galette is seriously very easy to bake. A prefect dessert to serve after a meal with a scoop of vanilla icecream..
Galette crust:
1+1/4cup All purpose flour
1/2tsp Salt
2tbsp Sugar
1/2cup Chilled butter
3tbsp ChilledWater
For filling:
4 Golden apples
1tbsp Sugar
3tbsp Nutella
Almond flakes (as per need)
Chocolate sauce (optional)
Milk (for brushing the crust)
Take the flour, salt, sugar, chilled butter in a food processor, pulse well until the mixture turns as coarse crumb.
Add the chilled water, mix well and turn as a dough.
Meanwhile peel and core the apples, slice them as thin slices.
Add the sugar to the apple slices, mix well and keep aside. Dust the dough and roll the dough as large circle.
Transfer the rolled dough to a baking tray lined with a baking sheet. Preheat the oven to 350F.
Spread the nutella over the rolled circle and now top it with the apple slices. Fold the edges of the galette crust over the apple slices. Take care not to cover the apples completely. Brush the crust with milk generously.
Now sprinkle the almond flakes.
Bake for 30-35 minutes until the crust turns golden brown.
Let it cool completely, drizzle the chocolate sauce over the galette, slice it and enjoy.
