Polvorones de Naranja aka Orange Shortbread cookies, super buttery cookies which just melt in your mouth. Actually Polvo means powder in Spanish,this is how exactly these cookies turns crumbly and buttery in your mouth. This shortbread cookies makes a fabulous Christmas gift as these cookies have a fantastic subtle flavor. These cookies are very easy to prepare and makes an excellent evening snacks to enjoy thoroughly with a cup of coffee or else with hot chocolate. Just dip this cookies in coffee or chocolate and have it, trust me you will definitely fell in love with these ultimate cookies.
Am running this week's blogging marathon with Kid's delight - Cakes and cookies as theme. Once winter starts here, Orange shows their heads everywhere. Since i love orange flavor in most of my bakes, i couldnt stop myself adding the orange zest and orange juice in usual shortbread dough. If you love citrus flavored baked goodies, then this shortbread cookies will definitely goes directly to your favourite list. You can pack this shortbread cookies in anyone's snack box, as these cookies will definitely please anyone's tastebuds.
1+1/2cup All purpose flour
1/2cup Butter (softened)
3/4cup Confectioner's sugar
1/4cup Orange juice
Salt (pinch)
1tbsp Orange zest
Confectioner's sugar for rolling
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
In a large bowl, mix together butter, confectioner's sugar, salt until creamy.
Gradually add the flour, orange zest, orange juice and knead everything with your fingers slowly until its turns as a dough.
Pinch off a small piece of dough and roll the dough into small balls (dont flatten them much)
Continue this process until all the dough is used.
Bake the cookies for 15-20 minutes. Remove from the oven and roll immediately with confectioner's sugar generously.
Cool for 5-10 minutes.
Enjoy with your favourite drink.
