Broken wheat/Godhuma Rava/Cracked Wheat/Dalia/Godhuma Nooka is a super healthy ingredient with all the nutrients in it. This broken wheat replace very well rice especially in Diabetic friendly meals. I have been cooking with broken wheat since a long as this healthy ingredient is one of my favourite after quinoa. After cooking couple of delicious dishes out of this broken wheat, am yet to try many more fantastic dishes with this grain. Not to forget, am an ardent fan of one pot meal, obviously if i get a chance to cook for a theme called 'One pot meal for Summer' how can miss a chance to cook an interesting dish with this broken wheat.
Coming to this broken wheat lemon pulihora, this dish is seriously very easy to prepare, a fabulous one pot meal to dish out if you feel lazy to cook. Trust me, this healthy lemon pulihora aka Lemon broken wheat is a filling meal to serve either for lunch or dinner. Am running this week's blogging marathon one pot meal for summer, obviously this tangy lemon pulihora makes an excellent dish to serve with some spicy potatoes or fryums.
1cup Broken wheat/Godhuma Rava
2tbsp Lemon juice/Juice from a lemon
1/2tsp Mustard seeds
1/2tsp Urad dal
1/2tsp Channa dal
Few curry leaves
1tsp Ginger (chopped)
3nos Green chillies (slit opened)
Few peanuts
2 Dry red chillies
1/4tsp Asafoetida powder
1/4tsp Turmeric powder
Oil
Salt
Heat enough oil, let splutters the mustard seeds, urad dal, channa dal, curry leaves.
Add in the dry red chillies, slit opened green chillies, chopped ginger,peanuts, asafoetida powder and fry until they turns brown.
Add the turmeric powder, salt,saute for few seconds.
Add two cups of water and bring it to boil. Now add the broken wheat and stir continously until the broken wheat absorbs the water.
Put off the stove and add the lemon juice, toss the broken wheat well.
Close the pan with lid and let it sit for few minutes before serving.
Serve with fryums, papads etc.
