Mango Granita

Granita is a semi frozen dessert made usually with sugar, water and various flavorings. Originally from Sicily its avilable now all over the world but in different forms. Granita is definitely related to Sorbet and Italian ice, however they have coarse and more crystalline like texture. Granita texture varies from coarse to smooth, it is always different from the one of an ice cream which is creamier, and from the one of a sorbet, which is more compact; this makes granita distinct and unique.

This frozen dessert requires no ice cream maker and just need to freeze the mixture in a stainless steel box and scrape the frozen mixture with a fork.Using stainless steel box will accelerate the freezing time and helps a lot for a quick freezing. This vegan frozen dessert makes an excellent dessert after a heavy meal or else to relish as a summer treat if the weather is too hot outside. Obviously granita are easy to make with less ingredients, that too easily available in your pantry. You can prepare granita with different fruits, however mango granita is my favourite. This post is going to this week's blogging marathn as am running Season fruits/vegetables as theme.Sending to Srivalli's Anniversary Mela.Check out the Blogging Marathon page for the other Blogging Marathoners doing BM#52.
