Wheat Flour Palm Jaggery Steamed Dumplings/Godhumai Karupatti Kozhukattai

I have been cooking with palm jaggery since few years and love to dish out some traditional dishes out of this fantastic healthy jaggery. Obviously my pantry will always have this jaggery. I have been looking for a chance to makes some kozhukattais aka steamed sweet dumplings with both wheat flour and palm jaggery. Finally i tried my hands with this combination when i picked Diabetic friendly sweets as this week's blogging marathon's theme. Palm jaggery can be used by diabetic patient for sweetening. Though diabetic peoples can enjoy thoroughly many health benefits of this jaggery its better to have it in limited quantity.

Godhumai Karupatti Kozhukattai,Wheat Flour Sweet Dumplings

This sweet steamed dumplings makes an excellent evening snacks or a mid morning snacks for any ages. I couldnt stop myself adding some grated coconut as i want to feed everyone at home without asny hassle. Somehow everyone at home love this dumplings with loads of grated coconut. However if you want to make this healthy sweet dumplings without coconut, just add few spoons of dry roasted yellow moongdal to replace the grated coconut easily. Very easy to make this dumplings will definitely fill a hungry tummy. Give a try to this healthy sweet dumplings if you want to make something different for your evening snacks.

Wheat flour, palm jaggery steamed dumplings

1cup Wheat flour
1/2cup Palm Jaggery
1+1/4cup Water
1tsp Cardamom powder
1/4cup Grated coconut
1/4tsp Salt
1tbsp Oil

Dry roast the wheat flour in a pan for few minutes,keep aside.

Heat the water, oil and salt, once the water starts boiling, add the jaggery pieces and make a syrup.

Strain this syrup and heat again until they starts thickens, add immediately the roasted wheat flour, grated coconut,cardamom powder and stir everything until the wheat flour get off from the pan.

Once the mixture turns cool, take a small ball from the dough and press inbetween your fingers.

Arrange them over a greased plate and drop gently into a pressure cooker.

Pressure cook them for 10 minutes and serve hot.
