Onion Paratha/Pyaz ka Paratha/Onion Roti

Am running this week's blogging marathon with  One vegetable different ways as theme, since i dont want to run behind any other vegetables, i went on dishing out three different dishes with my favourit Onions. Yes i picked Onion as my vegetable of this week. Onions is a must in my cooking, if i dont have enough onions at home i feel like missing something in my cooking. Yes i cant survive without onions and tomatoes. Just with these two vegetables, i can cook many different dishes with an ease. Hence i couldnt think more than picking onions as my prominent vegetable for this week's theme. Onions are extremely flavourful, whether raw or cooked, onions are super healthy.Raw onions have higher levels of organic sulfur compounds while the boiled ones are good source of fiber and copper. It was found that people with highest consumption of onions have lowest cancer rates, they also helps to lower blood sugar level. Onions have numerous nutritional and health benefits.

Onion Paratha, Pyaaz ka paratha

Coming to my today's recipe, this parathas calls for finely chopped onions and some chopped coriander leaves to bring more flavor to them. Usually onion parathas are prepared by stuffing, but this parathas are prepared  by adding directly the sauteed onions spiced with some spice powders to the flour. Hence these rotis doesnt need any side dish to serve along with. However i served with a simple vegetable kurma, we enjoyed thoroughly this incredible parathas. Kids loved this flavoursome rich parathas without any fuss as well. Dont forget to give a try to this incredible parathas.

2cups Wheat flour
Salt
Warm water
1/2cup Onions (chopped)
3tbsp Coriander leaves
1/2tsp Garam masala powder
Oil

Heat the oil in a pan, add the chopped onions and saute until the onions turns transculent. Add the garam amsala and coriander leaves saute for a while and put off the stove.

Let them cool completely.

Meanwhile take the wheat flour, salt, in a bowl, add the sauteed onions-coriander leaves and knead everything as smooth dough. Keep aside for half an hour.

Divide the dough as 6-7 pieces. Dust the balls and roll as parathas.

Pyaaz ka paratha, white onion paratha

Heat a tawa, drop the rolled parathas, drizzle oil and cook on both sides until the parathas gets well cooked.

Serve hot with side dishes.

Interesting pick, Priya. We use onions in almost everything that I never would have even considered onion for this theme. Looking forward to other two recipes. Onion paratha looks delicious.

Onions are used very sparingly in my house and in summer we buy them only if needed because they rot quickly. Different cooking styles. :) The paratha look amazing, perfectly round shape on each one!

As such am not a huge fan of parathas stuffed with onions but I don't mind trying out your version where its added to the dough. Looks very yum. Would love to have it with some yogurt.

I like that you have put the onion directly into the parathas instead of stuffing them, making it perfect fodder for me to try! Looks so well made... we can't imagine cooking without onions, isn't it? :)
