Am trying to cook with broken wheat often just to include this healthy ingredient to everyone's meal. I have tried couple of delicious dishes from healthy breakfast dishes to lipsmacking dessert. But still i have completely forgotten our most favourite dish to post in my space, obviously without any delay, am posting my family favourite Broken wheat dal khichdi. Yes this khichdi calls for dal and broken wheat, with simple cooking process, anyone can cook this healthy dish without any hassle. Easy to make and delicious to eat this khichdi makes a prefect lunch if you serve this dish with some spicy side dish. A complete meal to enjoy without any fuss, this khichdi will definitely fill some hungry tummies easily.
I used masoor dal for making this delicious khichdi, you can go with any dals of your choice. As usual, i prepared this dish in pressure cooker, yes pressure cooking helps a lot for quick cooking. Obviously i never fail make one pot meal like my today's post through pressure cooker, as they really very easy and quick to cook with. Am running this week's blogging marathon with Whole wheat recipes as this week's theme and hence am posting this ultimate dish for this week's theme.
1cup Broken wheat/Wheat Rava
1/2cup Masoor dal
1/4tsp Turmeric powder
1no Onion (chopped)
1no Tomato (chopped)
Few Curry leaves
1/2tsp Cumin seeds
2nos Bay leaves
2nos Green chillies (slit opened)
5nos Garlic cloves(crushed)
1tsp Ginger (chopped finely)
Salt
Oil
Take together the washed wheat rava,washed masoordal,finely chopped ginger,turmeric powder, salt in a vessel, add 3 cups of water and pressure cook them for 3whistles.
Heat the enough oil and fry the cumin seeds,slit opened green chillies, bay leaves,curryleaves.
Saute the chopped onions and crushed garlic cloves until the onions turns transculent.
Once the pressure get released,add this mixture to the tempered veggies to the cooked wheat rava-dal mixture, stir for few minutes and put off the stove..
Serve hot with pickle or spicy side dishes.
