Purple Cabbage Ginger Chutney/Muttaikose Inji Thuvaiyal/Cabbage Thogayal

South Indians makes excellent side dish for their breakfast dishes especially for Idlis or dosas. Sometimes we need to think seriously out of the box to please everyone at home. My hubby love to have his idlis or dosas with different sort of chutneys than finishing his meal just with a side dish. Obviously if i plan idlis or dosas, i have to plan atleast more than a chutney to please his tastebuds. Hence i couldnt stop myself to dish out this purple cabbage thuvaiyal aka chutney to serve with dosas. Purple cabbage/Red cabbage you can name them as whatever, but this cabbage is bit expensive than the green cabbage but trust me they stay fresh for a long than the green one. If you are bored of dishing out usual dishes with cabbage, dont hesitate a second to check my today's post.

Vegan Onion & Green Capsicum Chutney/Onion Bellpepper Chutney

If you are a South Indian, you might know very well that our favourite South Indian breakfast aka dosas or idlies calls for varieties of side dishes. Obviously we cant stick always with some usual side dish to serve those breakfast dishes. My family loves different side dishes or chutneys if i serve our own South Indian breakfast dishes. Seriously i always look for a new variety of  chutney to give a try. And i never forget to mix and match the ingredients according to our tastebuds. One of my recent trial to serve along with dosas is my today's onion and green bellpepper chutney. Sauteed green bellpepper and onions spiced with red chillies and few more spices makes this incredible chutney.

Aloo Tikki Chaat/Potato Cutlet Chaat

Chaat foods are my weakness  and i can survive for many days with chaat foods. All chaat foods are my favourite, i can have them even at midnite but unfortunately we dont get chaat foods here easily. Chaat foods are only available at home if i make them myself else its definitely a hard task to get them from stores, yes we dont have chaat food stalls here. If we crave for some chaat foods i'll make myself everything from scratch at home. Earlier my H wasnt a fan of this fingerlicking foods but now after having couple of homemade chaat foods, he became an ardent fan of this street foods. Needless to say Chaat foods are royal feast for us eventhough i try to make quite often at home.

Sweet Mango Chutney with Palm Jaggery

Sweet mango chutney with rotis, just imagine this combination. Dont you drool to this combination, but i do. Its been a while i prepared this chutney at home, usually my Grandma makes excellent chutney with jagggery and cubed mangoes. I just skipped both and went for grated mangoes along with palm jaggery. This makes an excellent chutney with less ingredients. You may wonder why am posting suddenly this mango chutney, i have a reason to post, actually i prepared this post long back and this chutney suits prefectly for this week's blogging marathon. Today am running my third week of blogging marathon and the theme of this week is Summer specials.

Peanut Shallot Chutney

Peanut chutney is our favourite side dish and we love to enjoy thoroughly either with Idlies or dosas. Since i want to add one more chutney with peanuts to my chutney collections, am posting this fingerlicking, nutty, flavourful chutney. This chutney tastes absolutely fantabulous especially with crispy dosas. I bet that you will truly have two more idlies or dosas definitely with this delicious chutney.I picked this chutney from a tamil magazine supplement called 30 varieties of Village foods. Peanuts and shallots makes a fantastic pair and this chutney is our recent favourite. Roasted peanuts gives a wonderful flavour, while the shallots makes this chutney more delicious, since this chutney goes for tamarind and coconut you can have this dish even as side dish for porridge. You can omit very well the tempering part, but i cant imagine chutneys without tempering.

If you dont get shallots, then you can use the red onions here, but trust me shallots will definitely take this dish to an another destination. A completely different chutney to enjoy if you love peanuts and shallots in your chutney. This post goes  for the CC Challenge of the month.

Carrot Coconut Chutney

Chutneys plays an important role in South Indian's breakfast, we love and make varieties of chutneys to relish along with dosas or idlies. My H is an aradent fan of variety foods, obviously if i serve dosas or idlies i need to prepare atleast two side dish to serve along with. Just imagine how much varieties of side dishes i would have tried to serve his breakfast. Coconut and carrot makes an incredible colourful chutney, i tried this chutney few days back for our dinner, we just enjoyed thoroughly this healthy, flavourful and mildly sweet chutney along with dosas.

I used carrot in large quantity and went for coconut in less quantity coz i dont want to add more grated coconut as they can change the texture of this carrot chutney, if you want to add more grated coconut please do, am sure they will taste much better too. Since i want to feed my kids with carrots, i went for this proportion. To spice up this chutney, i used ginger, garlic and tamarind which makes this chutney more flavourful and bit tangy at the same time. Do give a try,am sure your family will love this colourful chutney. This post is going to be a part of Vegan Thursdays, a vegan event happening twice a month.
