Mixed Vegetable Dhokla

Khaman Dhokla or Khaman, this dish prepared with gram flour is a common food in Gujarat and this can be eaten as a snack, breakfast and also for lunch.This dish is served usually with chutney and simply garnished with tempered spices with scrapped coconut.There are so many varieties of dhokla exists with many different ingredients in it.Eventhough dhokla are traditionally prepared with rice and dals, instant versions of this steamed spiced cakes do exists. Obviously i opted for the instant versions and my today's post is almost like Khaman dhokla but with mixed vegetables. Adding vegetables to this gram flour steamed cakes makes the dish more healthy and colourful. I prepared this dhokla simply with finely chopped and grated vegetables, this dhokla goes for grated carrot, finely chopped broccoli, finely chopped bellpepper. You can add more vegetables however i limited myself with this three vegetables. Since carrot, bellpepper and broccoli works prefect together, this vegetable dhokla came out simply rich in colour with a fabulous aroma.

Since this dhokla is an instant version, even if you dont know wat to cook for your dinner or breakfast, am sure this vegetable dhokla will definitely helps you. Just whisk all the ingredients together and steam cook it. Add the tempered spices and serve immediately with chutney. How easy na, the addition of vegetables makes this dhokla more interesting in a healthier way, if you dont have time just skip the vegetables. You can also simply prepare this dhokla just with a vegetable. Colourful dhokla, Vegetable Khaman dhokla Mixed vegetable dhokla

1cup Gram flour
1/2cup Mixed vegetables
1/2cup Curd
1/2cup Water
1/2tsp Baking soda
1/4tsp Turmeric powder
1/2tsp Green chilly paste
1/4tsp Lemon juice
1packet Eno Salt
1tsp Sugar
Salt
1/4tsp Mustard seeds
1/4tsp Sesame seeds
2tbsp Grated coconut
1tbsp Coriander leaves (chopped)

Mix the curd and water together, gradually add the gram flour and turn them as like idli batter.

Add the baking soda and mixed vegetables give a stir.

Heat a pressure cooker with enough water.

Add the lemon juice, salt, green chilly paste,sugar,eno salt and turmeric powder, mix well.

Pour this batter in a greased vessel and place gently into the pressure cooker,close the cooker and cook in high flame..

Steam cook this batter until the steam comes and put the flame in simmer, cook again for 10minutes.

Remove the lid and insert a toothpick to check whether they get cooked well.

Meanwhile heat a pan with oil, fry the sesame seeds, mustard seeds and pour over the cooked dhoklas.

Cut them as cubes and serve with grated coconut and chopped coriander leaves..

Enjoy this dhoklas warm with spicy green chutney..

Besides adding nutrition, besan dhoklas get a coloful tpuch by the addition of veggies.
