Oats Chocolate Squares/Eggless Chocolate Squares

If you are searching for a healthy and quick snacks, especially oats loaded snack bars, this oats chocolate squares is just for you. Oats and whole wheat flour makes an excellent healthy squares together eventhough the original recipe  goes for oats and all purpose flour with dates filling. Actually butter is used in this squares else this squares might be a tremendous guilt free snacks or breakfast squares if you are in hurry or if you dont have time to make your breakfast. These squares are dangerously addictive. Since none want dates puree in this squares, i just replace it with chopped chocolate chunks. This oats loaded chocolate squares makes an excellent evening snacks with your favourite drink as well.

This squares are this week's challenge Fond Bites-Bake Along a weekly event by Subhashini, she suggested this super buttery oats and dates squares for this week.Every week we get to know about the week's challenge on sunday and the members of this group should bake and share either in their blog or with the group members before the next sunday. Seriously am having real fun with this group actually learning so many different bakes every week. Coming to this squares, initially i was planning to make this squares with fruit jam. But as usual, i changed my mind and went for chocolate chunks which was sitting in my fridge. Trust me this chocolate addition was enjoyed thoroughly by everyone at home,needless to say this squares vanished very quickly. Thank god i reserved few squares for clicking pictures else i would have baked these addictive squares again.


1cup Rolled oats
1/2cup Wheat flour
1/3cup Light brown sugar
1/4tsp Baking soda
1/4tsp Salt
1/2cup Cold unsalted butter (cut as small pieces)
Rolled oats (for topping)
Chopped chocolate chunks for filling

Take the rolled oats, wheat flour,light brown sugar, baking soda, salt in a food processor.

Grind it as bit coarse powder, add the cold butter, pulse it again until the butter gets well mixed.

Remove the mixture and knead slowly to form a dough.

Grease and line a rectangle baking tray with a baking paper.

Divide the dough as one large ball and two medium balls.

Preheat the oven to 350F.

Take the large ball and spread as much as thin layer with your finger to the baking paper lined baking sheet.

Arrange the chocolate chunks over it generously.

Now top the chocolate chunks with the remaining oats-flour balls and cover the chocolate chunks completely.

Sprinkle the rolled oats, give a press.

Bake for 20-25minutes until the crust turns golden brown.

Let it cool completely.

Slice it as squares, arrange it in an air tightened box

Munch them with your favourite drink.
